The 15 yard dumpster runs 16 feet long, 7.5 feet wide, and 4.5 feet tall, with room for roughly four to five pickup-truck loads. That extra length and foot of height over the 10 yard makes a real difference once a project involves more than one room, or once the debris is dense — a stack of roofing shingles, a kitchen's worth of cabinets, or the old plaster and heart-pine framing that come out of an early-1900s Macon bungalow during a renovation.

It's also the second of our two sizes built to handle concrete, brick, or dirt safely — a larger driveway section or a bigger landscaping excavation than the 10 yard can comfortably take, while still staying within a weight allowance our taller 20, 30, and 40 yard containers aren't matched for. Still deciding? Call (478) 475-2468 and we'll walk through it with you.

Right job, right box

What this size is built for

Ideal projects

  • Kitchen or bathroom remodel debris
  • Single-layer roof tear-off on an average home
  • Detached garage or deck teardown
  • Combined garage and yard cleanout
  • Larger downsize or move-out purge
  • Estate cleanout for a mid-size home
  • Multi-room flooring replacement
  • Larger driveway concrete or excavation job

Pick a different size if…

  • Full home gut renovation
  • New home construction
  • Multi-layer roof tear-off on a large home
  • A full driveway or foundation's worth of concrete (ask about heavy-debris handling)
  • Commercial demolition

Not sure? Call (478) 475-2468 and describe what you are looking at. We would rather sell you a smaller container than have you pay for space you do not use.

Capacity in real terms

How much actually fits

What you're loadingHow it fits in a 15 yard dumpster
A single-layer roof tear-off (average home)Shingles are dense — this size handles one full layer without exceeding the fill line.
A full kitchen remodel (cabinets, counters, flooring)Cabinets break down flat and stack against the walls with flooring layered on top.
Old plaster and lath from two to three roomsCommon in Macon's early-1900s bungalows; this size handles the extra weight better than the 10 yard.
A detached garage teardownOld framing, siding, and roofing nest well, with hardware settling to the bottom.
A larger driveway concrete sectionStill within the weight allowance for masonry — the largest of our two heavy-material sizes.
A mid-size downsize cleanoutFurniture, boxes, and household goods from a Macon bungalow or subdivision home.

What Fits in a 15 Yard Dumpster

Four to five truck loads is enough for a full kitchen or bathroom remodel — cabinets, countertops, tile, drywall, and old flooring — or a single-layer roof tear-off on an average-size home. Shingles are dense and heavy for their size, so this container's extra capacity over the 10 yard matters here: you get the volume to hold a full roof's worth of tear-off material without pushing past the weight allowance that comes with the flat rate.

It's also our upper limit for concrete, brick, and dirt. A larger driveway patch, a bigger excavation for a new patio, or a moderate amount of soil from regrading work all fit here better than in a 20 yard or larger — the taller containers have more room, but the weight allowance doesn't stretch any further, so dense material fills the weight limit long before it fills the box. Accepted materials otherwise are the same across every size — wood, drywall, tile, flooring, furniture, household clutter, yard debris, roofing shingles, and small appliances — while paint, solvents, oils, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, propane tanks, and medical waste stay out of any size.

Right-Sized for Macon's Older Housing Stock

Macon's in-town neighborhoods are full of early-1900s bungalows in Vineville, Shirley Hills, Ingleside, and Bealls Hill, many built with real plaster over wood lath instead of modern drywall, and dense heart-pine framing typical of that era. Renovating one of these homes almost always produces more debris than a comparable job in a newer North Macon subdivision home — a single bathroom or bedroom project in an older bungalow often fills a 15 yard rather than a 10 yard simply because of what's behind the walls.

We deliver this size regularly to renovation projects across the county, and our drivers are used to working around the tighter streets and short driveways that come with older neighborhoods. If your renovation is turning into a bigger scope than planned, call (478) 475-2468 and we'll help you plan the right container for the full project.

Heavy Material and Weight — The Real Limit

Here's the thing most people don't expect: for concrete, brick, or dirt in any real volume, the answer is almost always the 10 or 15 yard — not the bigger boxes. Our 20, 30, and 40 yard containers are built for volume, and they're genuinely excellent for that. But the weight allowance that comes with the flat rate doesn't scale up the same way the box size does, and dense material like masonry or soil will hit that weight limit long before the container looks anywhere near full.

If your job is mostly renovation debris with a small amount of concrete or dirt mixed in, that's usually fine in a bigger container. If concrete, brick, or dirt is the main event — a driveway tear-out, a foundation demolition, a real excavation — call (478) 475-2468 and we'll talk through whether a 15 yard covers it or whether the volume needs a dedicated heavy-debris arrangement instead.

When to Step Up to the 20 Yard

The 15 yard is a mid-size box, and plenty of jobs sit right on the edge between it and the 20 yard. As a rule of thumb: if you're combining more than two rooms of remodel debris, planning an addition, or your roof has more than one layer of shingles, the 20 yard gives you meaningfully more room for not much more driveway footprint. If you're doing a single room, a standard roof tear-off, or a mid-size downsize cleanout — or a heavier concrete or dirt load — the 15 yard is usually the right call.

We would always rather help you pick the right size over the phone than have you overfill one container. Call (478) 475-2468 and describe the project and we'll tell you which size fits, plus get you on the delivery schedule.

Answers

15 Yard Dumpster — frequently asked questions

How does the 15 yard compare to the 10 yard?

It's 2 feet longer and a foot taller, moving from roughly two to three truck loads of capacity up to four to five. That difference matters most once a job involves more than one room, dense material like roofing shingles, or plaster and heart-pine framing from an older Macon bungalow, all of which fill space faster than typical household clutter.

Can I put a full roof tear-off in a 15 yard dumpster?

Usually yes, for a single-layer tear-off on an average-size Macon home. Shingles are heavy for their volume, so weight matters as much as space here. If your roof has multiple existing layers or the home is larger than average, call (478) 475-2468 and we'll talk through whether a bigger container makes more sense.

Is the 15 yard the biggest size I can use for concrete or dirt?

Yes — the 10 and 15 yard are the two sizes we recommend for concrete, brick, or dirt in real volume. Our taller 20, 30, and 40 yard containers have more room, but the weight allowance doesn't stretch any further, so dense material hits its weight limit well before the box looks full.

Do I need a permit to place a 15 yard dumpster in Macon-Bibb County?

No permit is needed for placement on your own driveway or private property. If there's no room and it needs to sit on a public street, check with Macon-Bibb County on a temporary placement approval first.

How long do I get to keep a 15 yard dumpster?

The standard rental period is 7 days, which covers most mid-size remodel and roofing timelines. If your project runs long, just call (478) 475-2468, Monday through Saturday, 7am to 7pm, and we'll extend the rental so you're not rushed.
