Big Barry's Dumpster Rental Macon was started by Barry Thompson, a longtime Macon resident who saw firsthand how difficult it was for homeowners and contractors around Middle Georgia to find honest, affordable dumpster rental service. Too many companies made you chase a quote, guess at a size, and hope the truck showed up when it said it would. Barry set out to build the outfit he wished existed — one vehicle at a time, built on dependability and plain, transparent communication.
That is still the whole mission: to make waste removal easier, cleaner and more responsible for everyone in Macon. Upfront pricing, eco-conscious disposal, hiring locally, and staying involved in the community we live and work in — that is not marketing language here, it is how the company actually runs day to day. What started with a single truck grew through word of mouth and repeat customers — a contractor telling another contractor, a homeowner telling a neighbor.
What we look like today
We run a fleet of trucks out of the yard on 2549 Roff Home Lane, keep 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 yard containers on the ground, and cover Macon and the towns spreading out across Macon-Bibb County — from Vineville and Downtown Macon to Warner Robins and Perry.
Every driver who works here knows this area's housing stock — the early-1900s bungalows and historic homes in Vineville, Shirley Hills, Ingleside and Bealls Hill, some on the National Register, the newer subdivisions filling in across North Macon and out toward Warner Robins and Perry, and the older mill-village and rural stretches further out around Lizella. They know a container set a few inches too far forward can mean you cannot get the truck out of a narrow in-town driveway, and they know exactly what a fast-building Middle Georgia thunderstorm can do to a soft yard between the time you call and the time we arrive.

Why we care about where it ends up
Hauling waste for a living gives you a fairly direct relationship with the consequences. We live here. So we take Georgia's waste rules seriously rather than treating them as paperwork, we sort out clean wood, metal, cardboard, concrete and yard waste where the volume justifies it, and we would rather spend five minutes on the phone telling you where an old appliance should go than quietly bury it.

Middle Georgia weather, handled
Macon sits at the Fall Line, where the rolling hills of the Piedmont meet the flatter coastal plain, with the Ocmulgee River running right through town. Summers here are hot and humid with genuine thunderstorm season, and every so often the remnants of a Gulf tropical system move up through Middle Georgia and drop a lot of rain and wind in a short window. When that happens and half the neighborhood is dealing with downed limbs and storm debris, that is exactly when we work hardest to keep containers moving — storm cleanup calls get pushed toward the front of the schedule, and we would rather be busy after a storm than have a neighbor stuck with a yard full of debris and no way to clear it.

Yes. Our yard and containers are at 2549 Roff Home Lane, Macon, GA 31204, and the trucks go out from there every morning. We are not a national booking site reselling your job to whichever hauler bids lowest — when you call (478) 475-2468 you reach the people who run the trucks.
How long have you been in business?
We do not lead with a founding year because what matters more is how we operate today: locally owned, based in Macon, with a small crew that answers the phone and shows up when it says it will. Are you licensed and insured?
Fully licensed to haul in Georgia and carrying general liability and auto coverage appropriate to commercial hauling. We are happy to send a certificate of insurance to general contractors, property managers and municipalities before a job starts — just ask when you book. It is a routine request for us, and we can usually turn it around the same day so it does not hold up your project schedule.
Do you work with contractors on ongoing jobs?
Constantly. Remodelers, restoration companies and property managers make up a large share of our week. We run standing swap-out schedules, priority call windows during peak season, consolidated monthly invoicing and negotiated rates on volume. What happens to the material after pickup?
It is weighed, then sorted where the load makes sorting worthwhile — clean wood, scrap metal, cardboard, clean concrete and yard waste get diverted rather than landfilled. Everything else goes to a permitted disposal facility. Materials restricted from ordinary Georgia landfill disposal are separated out and routed to the right facility.
