Gray is the small, quiet seat of Jones County, sitting northeast of Macon along a stretch of Middle Georgia that transitions from Bibb County's rolling Fall Line hills into Jones County's mix of farmland and pine woods. The town's compact downtown centers on the Jones County Courthouse, and the surrounding countryside holds real rural character, with the Jarrell Plantation State Historic Site not far away preserving a working 19th-century farm as a genuine window into the area's agricultural past. Gray is its own separately incorporated city with its own mayor and city government, distinct from Macon-Bibb County to its southwest, and growth here has stayed modest compared to the faster-growing towns south of Macon, keeping much of Jones County's rural feel intact right up to the edge of downtown.

The Jones County Courthouse anchors a compact downtown of older commercial buildings, with residential streets nearby holding a mix of older homes and more recent construction. Outside the small downtown core, Gray quickly gives way to farmland, pastureland and pine timber tracts typical of Jones County, and a good number of properties here sit on larger acreage with longer driveways than what we see closer to Macon. On private property — a driveway, a yard, a job site — you will not normally need a permit anywhere in Jones County, and that covers the large majority of our Gray deliveries. What matters far more is whether the surface can take the weight and whether the truck can physically get in.
