Pleasant Hill is one of the most historically significant African American neighborhoods in Macon, a National Register historic district that was home to a thriving community of Black-owned businesses, churches and schools for most of the 20th century before the construction of I-75 through Macon in the 1960s cut the neighborhood in two and displaced a number of longtime families.
